If there’s anything we learned whilst traveling across the Pacific for the Mondera Japan Vossen Owners Meet, it’s that nothing will stop them from having a good time and celebrating their mutual love of cars and wheels—not even a typhoon!
When we first booked our travel, the thought of encountering a typhoon was the last on our minds. Little did we know, Typhoon Phanfone had other plans, and before we knew it we were stepping out of Yuki’s van and into a rainstorm. Despite the conditions around 40 cars still made the rainy trek to Hamamatsu, some traveling as far as six hours just to be there. It’s this dedication and enthusiasm that makes us look forward to each and every opportunity we can find to visit our Japanese friends and fans.
Amazingly, however, and as luck would have it, not long after everyone arrived the rain ceased. Mondera’s staff did a wonderful job posing and parking cars and owners had a quick moment to wipe their cars down. The skies opened just long enough to run around and snap a few photos, but before we knew it Phanfone was back at it and the rain ensued, more ferocious than before. Luckily for us, the majority of the typhoon passed overnight, and we woke early road closures and flooding all around our hotel. The highways too were closed, and just as soon as the state deemed it safe, we got back on the road to our next destination of the trip, RSR Suspension.
While our venture to Japan included many activities and shoots, the Vossen Owner’s Meet was absolutely the most remarkable. To have a group of owners in such a massive region come together with such enthusiasm and excitement, especially considering the treacherous weather conditions, really goes to show how much our brand means to them.
To commemorate the event, Yuki’s staff created Vossen-branded towels for every attendee, a very popular souvenir that everyone was very excited to take home. But for us the most important and special souvenir was the hospitality we received from our Japanese friends!
